Bus Delay Update!
The train crossings have been reopened! The last of our students at Louisa East have been picked up by their bus drivers, and the buses
will begin their regular afternoon routes. We truly appreciate everyone having patience and understanding throughout today's events!

Dear Parents,
Due to a train stopped on the tracks in Louisa, our bus dismissal time will be impacted.
This occurrence happened before dismissal, and we are working to provide alternative routes.
We'd like to ask for your patience as we deal with this logistics issue. Again, dismissal times will
be impacted and delayed!

Celebrating Mrs. Derifield LEES, Principal, during National Principals Month!
In honor of National Principals Month this October, we are thrilled to share a delightful throwback photo of Mrs. Derifield! This snapshot captures her as a cheerleader during her senior year at LCHS.Mrs. Derifield reminisced about her time at LCHS, saying, "During my high school years, I was a four-year varsity cheerleader, a freshman representative, a member of the Social Studies Club, part of the advanced choir, a National Honor Society member, and the senior class treasurer.” Additionally, Mrs. Derifield was honored by her classmates when she was voted onto the Homecoming court and crowned Homecoming Queen! "My advice to students is to get involved in something that brings you joy and allows you to be the best version of yourself. Make sure you surround yourself with people who support you in all you choose to do!"
Mrs. Derifield is commemorating 15 remarkable years in education, all of which she has dedicated to Louisa East Elementary! Over the years, she has taught 4th and 5th grade and served as a vice-principal. This year marks her first as the principal of LEES, a role she has embraced with great enthusiasm. Her dedication to education remains steadfast, and her actions clearly demonstrate her commitment. We are excited to see her leadership and the vision she will bring to LEES in the future. Mrs. Derifield leaves us with some inspiring words for our students across the district!
Dear Lawrence County Students of all ages,
As a proud Lawrence County Bulldog, I want to share just how much my years in our schools shaped who I am today. From cheering on the sidelines to singing in the choir, joining clubs, and being part of FCA, every experience helped me grow in confidence and character. I learned the value of teamwork, leadership, and kindness from teachers, staff, and coaches who truly cared and believed in me. The lessons I learned inside and outside the classroom still guide me every day.
I encourage each of you to take full advantage of every opportunity we offer in Lawrence County Schools. Step out of your comfort zone—try a new sport, join a club, participate in all the things, or volunteer to help others. Don’t be afraid to lead, even when it’s easier to follow. The friendships you build and the memories you make here will last a lifetime. Always remember, no matter where life takes you, you’ll carry the heart of a Bulldog with you—wear that red and black proudly...once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!
With Bulldog Pride,
Angel Derifield
