LCHS Celebrates a Dual Signing to Alice Lloyd College!
Celebrating dual achievements for LCHS Seniors, Boedy Maynard and Gunnar Woods, who have recently signed letters of intent with Alice Lloyd College to pursue their education and athletic careers! Boedy is signing on to continue his baseball career, while Braxton will continue his basketball career at ALC! We are thrilled for both of these students, who have worked diligently to make collegiate competition a reality. They serve as inspiring role models for other LCHS students, encouraging them to aim high and believe in their dreams.
LCHS Athletic Director Mr. Thompson shared some words on ALC signing day. "This is a huge day for Gunnar and Boedy and their families. They have been given the opportunity to go on to play at the next level while earning their education, and that is something we are always excited about! We appreciate Alice Lloyd for giving these fellas this opportunity. It is very well deserved. Families, it's a big day for you, so enjoy it! Know that we are proud of you and will be pulling for you every step of the way."
LCHS Lady Bulldog's Baseball Coach, Travis Feltner, shared some thoughts with Boedy and his family. "Boedy, you know I have been coaching a long time, and I have 100% been wrong in the judgment of a kid. You have a kid come along, and you think, " Man, that is a good kid. And then that kid may disappoint you. And then again, I may disappoint the kids. We have all had letdowns and stuff like that. I will at least go to the end of Boedy's high school career. I won't say I go to my grave, but man, he is a great kid. Eric, you and Becky have done a phenomenal job with him. He has been a heck of a ball player. I can talk about ball and all that stuff, but at the end of the day, what kind of person you are is all that matters. He has had a great impact on our program. Hopefully, we have had a little on him as well. Along with our two other seniors, I would stand behind any of these guys. And man, it's an exciting day for you! Boedy does love playing; there is no doubt in my mind. And for him, just like I said last week for Braxton, everyone doesn't get the opportunity to keep playing. And you are going to figure this out. You are not going to get to play forever. I always encourage guys, if you get the opportunity, take advantage of it, because at some point, life is going to hit you square in the nose. And then you have to go to work. So, play as long as you can. So, I am excited for you. Obviously, this school (ALC) means a lot to my wife and me. It is where we got our degrees from and go to play some ball, a very long time ago. It will be a great fit for you. And Boedy, congratulations, man, we love you! Thank God you came into our lives. Congratulations, and thank you for letting me coach him. I appreciate it!"
Gunnar shared his appreciation with those who attended the signing. "I want to thank everyone for coming, and I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level and to get my education. I thank Alice Lloyd for giving me a shot to do that. Thanks to all of my coaches, teammates, friends, and everyone I grew up with. You all helped me get here! Thank you!"
Boedy also shared his thoughts and expressed his appreciation to the audience. "I just want to thank everyone here. Everyone here has had an impact on my life, whether it be good or bad. But at the end of the day, you guys are my family, and I love you all."
We wish Boedy and Gunnar the very best as they celebrate this amazing milestone toward their academic and athletic pursuits at Alice Lloyd College! Let's go, Eagles! #LCisHome

Recently, our LCHS Seniors celebrated their commitment to education during the LC Future Teachers Signing Day!
- Ashley Maynard intends to attend Morehead State University to pursue a career as an art teacher, inspired by LCHS Art Teacher, Mrs. Brown.
- Silas Slone will also be attending Morehead State University, where he plans to major in physics or chemistry. He attributes his career choice to his mother's 15 years of teaching experience and acknowledges LCHS Chemistry teacher, Dr. Vanderpool, for engaging discussions, experiments, and activities.
- Reagan Webb is set to attend Marshall University, focusing on secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics. She credits LCHS Assistant Principal and former math teacher, Joey Cecil, for guiding her career decision.
- RaShel Harrison aims to pursue a degree in elementary education with hopes of teaching kindergarten.
Congratulations to these seniors as they take significant steps toward becoming educators themselves. We look forward to seeing you earn your degrees and hopefully return to LC! #LCisHome

This year, the LCHS Environmental Science AP class marked its inaugural year by planting a special cherry tree sourced directly from the Arbor Day Foundation! Dr. Vanderpool, the Environmental Science teacher at LCHS, shared how the class made their decision about which type of tree to plant.
“The students had to decide between a tree that would provide food for wildlife, such as nuts or fruit, an evergreen that would offer nesting habitats, or a blooming tree that would benefit pollinators. They ultimately selected the blooming tree to support pollinators. This blooming tree symbolizes an investment in the future by aiding pollinating insects, which are essential for our food supply and the survival of numerous plant species.”
We are excited to watch both the cherry tree and the LCHS Environmental AP class grow! Thank you, Dr. Vanderpool, for inspiring and guiding our students toward responsible stewardship of our environment! #LCisHome

LCHS Celebrates a Dual Signing to Kentucky Christian College!
Celebrating dual achievements for LCHS Seniors, Taylor Blevins and Braxton Davis, who have recently signed letters of intent with Kentucky Christian College to pursue their education and athletic careers! Taylor is signing on to continue her softball career, while Braxton will continue his baseball career at KCU! We are so excited for both of these students for working hard to make collegiate competition a reality and for serving as motivators for other LCHS students to aim high and believe in their dreams.
LCHS Athletic Director Mr. Thompson shared some words about this signing. "Congratulations to Taylor and Braxton, and their parents and families, it's a big deal and certainly something you should all be proud of! We are super excited and proud of both of you. And we are pulling for you every step of the way!"
LCHS Lady Bulldog's Softball Coach, Sam Sparks, shared some thoughts with Taylor and her family. "I have been involved with high school athletics for over 40 years. If you are fortunate, you may have seen one or two generational athletes during that time. And in 40 years, I have maybe seen a handful. And just when you think it's over, you cross paths with Kenny Horn, who leads you to cross paths with Taylor, who is a generational athlete for our program. We can sit here all day and talk about all the records she has obtained: 6 district titles, 2 sectional titles (2A), 2A state final, a state final four, and 102 career wins. All those statistics don't begin to tell you what kind of person she is or what kind of family she is from. So, for me personally and for our team, it has been special to watch her progress. I think this year, particularly in the fall, she has worked harder than she ever has. And it has certainly paid off for our team, and we're not finished yet. It is good to see her have the opportunity to continue her athletic career at KCU. I hope that will open up a pipeline for us, to send players there, because we have a bunch that can play. And for her to be one of the first ones to attend there, I think that is great. I think the end of the rainbow for KCU landed right on our softball field. I think they know what they are getting, but I don't know that they really do. She is a generational player in a great program. And she is going to do well. It is a credit to everyone who has supported her through Little League, travel ball, and whatever. And other than her parents and grandparents, I will certainly have to give Bo Davis a lot of credit, too. He has been the backbone. Again, congratulations to Taylor! She has set records for us that I hope someone breaks one of these days. It won't be in my lifetime. Not only that, she has been a terrific teammate. This opportunity is great for her, for our team, and for our program. Congratulations, Taylor!"
LCHS Baseball Coach, Travis Feltner, shared some remarks with Braxton and his family. "Congratulations to Braxton! He has been in our baseball program for the last 6 years. He has certainly left his mark. It is a huge day when you have a kid who can continue his career beyond high school. Because, as he will find out, you can't play forever. So, you take that opportunity when you get it. Martin, you and Nicole have done an amazing job. He is a great kid, and that will take him further in life more than anything else. To see him get an education, earn a degree so he can continue to play, and help pay for it is a huge honor for Braxton and our baseball program. We talk about a lot, what you put into it, is what you get out of it. He has put a lot into it, and today shows the fruits of his labor. I would like to say, Braxton, congratulations and thank you for what you have brought to our program for the last 6 years. I appreciate these (KCU) coaches coming and giving our kids the opportunity. I have been here a long time, and we have had a lot of great kids come through. But congratulations to Martin and Nicole, and to Braxton. I love ya."
We wish Taylor and Braxton the very best as they celebrate this amazing milestone toward their academic and athletic pursuits at Kentucky Christian University! Let's go, Knights! #LCisHome
