LCHS environmental science students visited the Blackhawk Mines located near Hazard, KY. Students felt it was a great learning experience, learning the pros and cons of coal production. The mining staff also stressed the importance of land reclamation.

LCHS hosted their second annual Music in our Schools Concert! Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Whalen, and Mr. Smith collaborated to provide an excellent musical presentation, along with the induction of Adam Chaffins, Elsie Jones, and Sam Lyon into the Hall of Fame!

While the forecast for our area is uncertain, there is a potential for two weather systems to go through our area today. A tornado watch has been issued for Lawrence County currently, with more severe weather later.

Emergency Management Director Travis Hughes will be utilizing the CodeRed system for up-to-date watches and warnings. Louisa West Elementary students worked on art projects with their art teacher, Ms. Maynard. She presented a tutorial on how to sketch a bear. Next, they enjoyed selecting multiple colors to paint their masterpieces! Look at this beautiful artwork!
