Discover What's Happening in the Lawrence County School District! Introducing the LC Board Bulletin!

Take a moment to explore the latest happenings within our school district! This publication highlights each of our LC Board of Education meetings. Be sure to keep an eye out for highlighted features of each of our schools and their students throughout the year!

As we begin this school year, we celebrated our school district's summer achievements! The board presented the LC Food Service staff with certificates for providing over 57,000 meals to our LC families. Blaine Middle School celebrated with an open house to welcome the STAR Academy, which awarded a $1,000,000 grant to enhance 7th- and 8th-grade classes. The Back-to-School luncheon was also a profound success, uniting our teachers and staff throughout the district. The Lawrence County Professional Learning Conference 7.0 (LCPLC) offered sessions that taught positive, proven teaching techniques.

As we kick-start the new school year, we are excited to announce the start of design schematics and renovation work for Louisa East and the new Louisa West (formerly the LC Community Center). This initiative will create space for a first-grade wing at LEES. Additionally, our LWES preschool and kindergarten will transition into their newly renovated building. We can’t wait to provide these upgraded facilities to our students and families!

Stay tuned for more news from LC Schools! As a reminder, our next regular board meeting is scheduled for September 21st at the LCHS library. #LCisHome

Due to yesterday evening's storm, which left debris on roads and caused power outages, Lawrence County KY Schools will operate on a 1-hour delay today, Monday, August 17. Because our buses start early in the morning, this delay allows daylight for drivers and emergency teams to safely evaluate road conditions. Please travel safely. Any further updates will be shared through our normal channels. #LCisHome

An invitation for Lawrence County Schools' back-to-school event on August 12, 2026, encouraging participants to share their first day photos.
As we begin a new school year, our LC Schools Transportation Department is excited to welcome our students back on the buses!

The first few days of school are always a busy time for transportation. Bus routes, stops, and arrival times may take a little time to settle into a consistent routine. We appreciate our families' patience and understanding as our drivers work hard to transport every student safely and efficiently.

A few reminders for families:
🚌 Please have students at their bus stop at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
🚌 During the first several days, buses may run earlier or later than expected as drivers become familiar with their routes and students.
🚌 Please remind students to follow the driver’s instructions and practice safe, respectful behavior while riding the bus.
🚌 Drivers will be especially careful with younger students and new riders as everyone becomes familiar with their stops and routines.

Our bus drivers and transportation staff carry an important responsibility each day, and student safety will always be our top priority. We ask everyone to be patient with our buses on the road and to remember to STOP when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.

Thank you to our drivers, transportation staff, school personnel, parents, and guardians for working together to make the start of the school year safe and successful. As always, my door is open if you have questions or concerns.

We look forward to a great year and many safe miles ahead! 🚌📚
