At our Board of Education meeting last week, the LC Board set the new property tax rate at 62.0 cents for every $100 of property value. This is a small increase (from 58.9), which comes to about $31 more per year for a home valued at $100,000. This small increase is important because it makes the Lawrence County school buildings eligible to receive matching funds from the state for use on facilities. Only 0.1 cents of the increase is recallable, which would be about $1 for every $100,000 of assessed property value for a year. If this amount were to be recalled, LC would not receive those matching funds from the state to use on school buildings.

I got to enjoy a picnic with Ms. Morrow's class during lunch today. They were the class with the highest attendance for the week! Second year in a row for Picnic With the Principal and these kids were very well behaved and fun!

Exciting Reminder! LC Schools is thrilled to welcome all preschool students for their first day of school on **Wednesday, August 27th**! Tomorrow, the preschool programs at Blaine, Fallsburg, and Louisa West Elementary will be eagerly welcoming new students. We wish everyone a fantastic day!

This is something to be proud of and isn't easy to achieve! Congratulations to our Pre-school team on receiving a Level 5 rating with the Kentucky All Stars Program! It doesn't shock us to see, but we are thrilled that others have recognized the hard work that these ladies put in daily.

Congratulations to the Lawrence County School Food Service! We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to the Lawrence County School food service for their successful 2025 summer feeding program! A special shout-out goes to Mrs. Farley, the LC Food Service Director, and the dedicated kitchen staff throughout the district for their relentless commitment that made this achievement possible. The summer feeding stations were set up at: Blaine Elementary, Fallsburg Elementary, Lawrence County High School. We are also thankful to the families who joined us and participated, playing a vital role in making this initiative a tremendous success!

Please be aware that the lunch menu for students will be available on the LC Schools website at https://www.lawrence.k12.ky.us. You can choose MENU tab to view the attending school for the most current menu options. If your child has any dietary restrictions or needs, please reach out to the school. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, August 13th!
