LC Schools Bus #201 was involved in a minor fender-bender after picking up students from Louisa West and Louisa East. Thankfully, there were no injuries! The police are on the scene and are currently clearing the accident. Please be aware that students may arrive home a few minutes later than usual due to the event! Thank you! #LCisHome

Mathematics Achievement Fund (MAF) at FES
Today, Mr. Spears, FES's third-grade teacher and MAF leader, and Ms. Pack, the FES math coach, delivered a lesson focused on understanding multiplication expressions.
The class explored how to recognize patterns in skip counting, specifically focusing on their 2s and 5s. The lesson included various paired activities designed to encourage students to think critically about different methods of grouping numbers to reach the same total. Ms. Pack also projected student work on the whiteboard to showcase different approaches and illustrate how students might group numbers differently yet still arrive at the same answer, thereby supporting diverse learning strategies.

Additionally, they are encouraging students to explore multiple strategies for solving their mathematical problems. We will be hosting a Grandparents' Day Parade on Thursday, Sept 10th! Line up will be at the Fallsburg Creek Side Cabins at 12:00 PM, with the parade starting at 1 PM. Decorate your cars and let's have so much fun!

• Real Estate Tax Rate: 61.9 cents per $100 of assessed value
• Personal Property Tax Rate: 62.5 cents per $100 of assessed value
• Motor Vehicle/Watercraft Tax Rate: 35.0 cents per $100 of assessed value
• Utility Tax Rate: 3.0%
Note: This rate represents the state-calculated “compensating rate with exonerations” and is not subject to a public recall vote under KRS 132.017.

As we begin this school year, we celebrated our school district's summer achievements! The board presented the LC Food Service staff with certificates for providing over 57,000 meals to our LC families. Blaine Middle School celebrated with an open house to welcome the STAR Academy, which awarded a $1,000,000 grant to enhance 7th- and 8th-grade classes. The Back-to-School luncheon was also a profound success, uniting our teachers and staff throughout the district. The Lawrence County Professional Learning Conference 7.0 (LCPLC) offered sessions that taught positive, proven teaching techniques.
As we kick-start the new school year, we are excited to announce the start of design schematics and renovation work for Louisa East and the new Louisa West (formerly the LC Community Center). This initiative will create space for a first-grade wing at LEES. Additionally, our LWES preschool and kindergarten will transition into their newly renovated building. We can’t wait to provide these upgraded facilities to our students and families!

This is an update. Following further evaluation of road conditions and widespread power outages this morning, multiple bus routes are impassable. To ensure the safety of students and staff, Lawrence County Schools will be CLOSED today, Monday, August 17. Stay safe today, LC!
Due to yesterday evening's storm, which left debris on roads and caused power outages, Lawrence County KY Schools will operate on a 1-hour delay today, Monday, August 17. Because our buses start early in the morning, this delay allows daylight for drivers and emergency teams to safely evaluate road conditions. Please travel safely. LC Schools has been selected to receive a $10,000 Grant Award for the 2026-2027 WHAS Crusade for Children! This generous grant will be used to support sensory-support classrooms, enabling children with unique abilities to unlock their full potential and lead lives filled with endless possibilities!

shared her excitement, saying, “We are truly grateful to the WHAS Crusade for Children for its support.
