LC Schools is delighted to share that Mrs. Amanda Ward has successfully completed the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership (CIPL) Fellowship. This program empowers parents to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective educational advocates and partners. It prepares parents to collaborate with educators and fellow families, ensuring students’ success! We continually seek meaningful family engagement within our school district. We are excited to announce that Mrs. Ward is the first to complete the CIPL fellowship within the LC School District!
Mrs. Ward’s Journey
Mrs. Ward explained her motivation for pursuing CIPL accreditation. She explained that during an LMS SBDM council meeting, Mrs. Sammons, the LMS principal, discussed the upcoming Parent Leadership opportunities with CIPL. Inspired, she applied and was accepted into the cohort. The program was comprised of five two-hour virtual sessions featuring guest speakers from across Kentucky. Many former CIPL members have gone on to become school board members or advanced from their current roles.
Mrs. Ward shared, “I am honored to be the first parent from the LC School District to complete the CIPL fellowship, but I don’t want to be the last! I have gained so many important skills through this leadership training. This is a FREE program, and I encourage other parents to check it out. I also urge parents to be active in education through volunteering or running for their school SBDM councils.”
Get Involved!
If you’re interested in applying for the next CIPL fellowship, you can find the application online at https://bit.ly/3LQvedz today. The Fellowship offers an in-depth learning experience, allowing parents not only to deepen their understanding of educational issues but also to design and lead a project that supports student achievement. We hope you consider becoming more involved in education today!
