New Scholarships
Grayson Rural Electric Scholarship:
This scholarship is available to high school seniors. You must live in the Grayson RECC service area, and complete an essay on “How Electricity Will Change in the Future”. You can pick up an application from Mrs. Finley in the guidance office. You will mail this in, and they must receive your application by March 1, 2009. There will be seven $1000 scholarships awarded this year.
Marguerite Gambill Lyons Scholarship Fund:
This scholarship requires a copy of your parents’ 2008 W-2 and the FIRST PAGE of their Federal Income Tax Return Forms 1040 for 2006 and 2007. Also required is a copy of your transcript with ACT score. You can pick up an application from Mrs. Finley. The applications are to be turned back in to the guidance office by March 10, 2009.
King’s Daughters Health Foundation Health Career Scholarship:
You must be a high school senior. You must live in Lawrence, Greenup, Carter, or Boyd County. It is for 2 or 4 year degrees in the medical field. You must maintain a 2.5 grade point average and score a 15 or better on the ACT. You will also need your transcript with ACT score and 3 letters of recommendation. You can pick up an application in the guidance office. You will need to mail this in by Friday, April 3, 2009.
The Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency Educational Award:
This is a $1000 scholarship. You must be a resident of Lawrence County, have a 2.5 grade point average, and meet the income guidelines. For more information, please see Mrs. Finley. You can pick up an application in the guidance office and you will need to mail that in by March 31, 2009.
**Financial Aid Workshop**
There will be a financial aid workshop February 16th at 6:00pm in the LCHS library. Amy Marvin from KHEAA will be here to assist with the FAFSA application. Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov ASAP to get pin numbers for you and your parents!
**Any girl needing assistance with a gown for prom, military ball, or sophomore party needs to see Mrs. Finley ASAP!
