POLICY TOPIC DESCRIPTION

Schedule of the School Day & Protection of Instructional Time

 

 

POLICY STATEMENT

The Curriculum Committee, working in collaboration with the school principal, shall develop a proposed school schedule by May 1, and shall present this schedule at the May meeting to the council for approval. If the school council does not approve this schedule, it will be sent back to the Curriculum Committee for revision and presented to the school council at subsequent meetings until approved. The Curriculum Committee can defer this job to the principal if they so desire.  The principal will then develop a schedule and present it to the Curriculum Committee for approval.  If approved it shall be sent to the council for approval. If the school council has not approved a schedule by July 1, the principal shall develop and implement a schedule. It shall be the responsibility of the principal to ensure that interruptions during instructional time do not occur unless there is an emergency situation in the school as provided in the School Safety Plan.
