Thank you for visiting our class page! My name is Janet May and I teach a 5th grade class at Louisa East Elementary. I have taught school for 21 years and the majority of those years I have taught in the fifth grade at Louisa East Elementary. I did my undergraduate and graduate work at Morehead State University. My life's work is teaching and I thoroughly enjoy my profession.
I have been married to Rick May for 35 years, the pastor at Community Fellowship Church here in Louisa. Rick and I have two grown children who are a part of this community as well. Our son Casey works as the deputy jailer for Lawrence county and his lovely wife Christy works in a local doctor's office. Casey and Christy have two children, my dear grandchildren, Conner and Olivia. Conner is an honor student at Louisa Middle School. Olivia is a talented student and Louisa East Elementary. Sarah, our daughter is a teacher at Fallsburg School in the intermediate department. She has our third precious grandchild, Boston Scout....AKA "The Boss". My family has lived in this town for seventeen years and we feel blessed to be a part of such a friendly community.
It is my great privilege and honor to teach your child and I promise that I will do my very best to make their fifth grade year an enjoyable and productive journey. If you ever have any questions please feel free to contact me. Education is a collaborative effort and parental participation is one of the biggest keys in making our children college and career ready....our ultimate goal!!!

Trip!

Our fifth grade students will be traveling to Ashland, KY to watch a musical performance of The Sound of Music. The performance will be held at the Paramount Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. on March 22nd. After the musical, the fifth grade class will be dining in for lunch at Cheddars Restaurant near the Ashland Town Center Mall. The entrance cost for the musical is $5 per student. Students will also be responsible for the price of their lunch at the restaurant as well. If this poses any kind of problem for you financially, please contact your child's teacher for a helpful solution. We want ALL students to be able to attend. We are so excited to be able to attend this function because one of our fellow fifth grade students, Annie Whelan will be playing the part of Marta. We are all so excited. The class will return to school for evening dismissal.
