Assessment & Instruction
The Lawrence County School District believes it is important to assess student learning in order to continuously improve results for students. Information gathered through the district's assessment system is used to measure student learning essential to achievement of elementary grade level expectations and secondary course expectations; provide performance feedback to students, staff, and parents; inform effective instruction for all students; evaluate school performance; and improve curriculum.  The district utilizes a variety of assessment procedures and measures to assess student performance including formal and informal (teacher-made), norm-referenced and criterion-referenced tests as well as district-level and classroom-based assessments.  The district believes that a variety of measures gives the most accurate picture of student performance.
